How scoring works and how to start a competition
To run a quiz competition in QuizAcademy, you make it available in an exam in which everyone answers the same questions. Answering quickly earns no extra points; speed only decides in a tie.

- 2. Make the competition available: You add the questions to an exam and share the link, QR code or PIN.
- 3. Play: Everyone answers the same questions on their own device, and every correct answer counts.
- 4. Determine the winner: Whoever answers the most questions correctly wins. In a tie, the shorter time decides.
Without restricted access, participants take part with any username. With restricted access, only the usernames you have entered can play.

How does an online quiz competition work with QuizAcademy?
In an online quiz competition in QuizAcademy, all participants answer the same questions on their own phone, tablet or computer. You create the questions in the CMS, make them available in an exam and share the link, QR code or PIN. After the competition, you see the results per person and export them as an Excel or PDF file.
How is the competition scored?
In QuizAcademy, whoever answers the most questions correctly wins. In a tie, the time taken decides, and the shorter time is better. There are no extra points for answering quickly: speed only matters in a tie. This keeps the scoring transparent and fair for everyone who takes time to think.
Is a competition different from a live quiz?
Yes, a competition in QuizAcademy runs in an exam, each person plays on their own device, and you determine a winner at the end. In a live quiz, by contrast, you present the questions one after another in your session, everyone answers at the same time, and the results appear straight away on the presenter screen.
Can participants play anonymously?
Participants play in QuizAcademy with a username and do not need an account. Because a competition names a winner, an anonymous ranking makes no sense. The username can be a pseudonym, though: if you like, participants choose from approved random names, so nobody has to use their real name.
How do I decide who may take part in the competition?
In QuizAcademy, you control who may take part in the exam with the “Restrict access” setting. Without the restriction, participants take part with any username, even more than once. With the restriction, only stored usernames can play, which you enter manually, import from a spreadsheet or have generated.
Are there examples and templates for a competition?
