Digital compliance training in two modules

With QuizAcademy, you run compliance training online, without an in-person session for the whole workforce. A training consists of a course for learning and an exam as proof of knowledge. Start with the ready-made template “Compliance training” (currently in German) or create your own content, and adapt it to your gifts policy, your code of conduct and your reporting channels.

  • Module 1, self-study module: Quiz questions and flashcards on gifts and invitations, conflicts of interest and reporting channels, at their own pace on a smartphone or computer. In the course, employees learn anonymously, without an account.
  • Module 2, knowledge test: You make the exam available for a fixed period, for example two weeks. QuizAcademy assigns the results to the username or the staff number.
  • Proof: You export the results as an Excel or PDF file and download the certificate for each person as a PDF, for example for the personnel file.

What digital compliance training documents

With QuizAcademy, you can show who was trained when and whether the content was understood. The exam and its logs take care of this. Your organisation remains responsible for the accuracy of the content, such as the gifts policy and reporting channels.

  • Exam logs record progress and the answers given, so the course of the exam can be traced
  • Result per username or staff number, export as Excel or PDF
  • Certificate per person as a PDF download

What German law says about compliance training

The templates in QuizAcademy are based on German law. Under German law, there is no specific legal duty to train on compliance in general. Companies train anyway because of management’s duty of supervision. In other countries, the rules differ.

  • No specific training duty: German law does not require training on compliance in general. Which topics your company trains on depends on the sector, size and risks.
  • Section 130 OWiG: Under the German Administrative Offences Act, a breach of the business owner’s duty of supervision can lead to a fine of up to €1 million if the violation is a criminal offence. Training can serve as a supervisory measure; whether it is enough in a specific case is a matter of interpretation.
  • Section 30 OWiG: A corporate fine of up to €10 million can be imposed on companies for intentional offences by people in management positions.
  • Form of instruction: Under DGUV Rule 100-001 of the German statutory accident insurance, electronic media are an aid if the content is specific to the workplace, understanding is checked and a conversation with the instructing person is possible at any time. The exam serves as the check of understanding; your organisation answers questions.

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find your question? Write to us.

What is compliance training?

Compliance training shows employees which rules apply in the company and how to behave correctly, for example with gifts, invitations, conflicts of interest and reports of violations. With QuizAcademy, you run it digitally, as a self-study module followed by an exam. You build the content from your gifts policy and your code of conduct.

Is compliance training mandatory?

Under German law, there is no specific legal duty to train on compliance in general. Indirectly, the duty of supervision under section 130 of the German Administrative Offences Act plays a role, and whether training is enough as a supervisory measure is a matter of interpretation in each case. In other countries, the rules differ. With QuizAcademy, you train digitally and document participation per person. Not legal advice.

Which topics belong in compliance training?

Typical topics are handling gifts and invitations, conflicts of interest, reporting channels for violations and the rules from your code of conduct. The QuizAcademy template “Compliance training” covers these points and is currently available in German; you adapt it to your policies or create your own content. Which additional topics matter for your company depends on the sector and risks.

Can I run compliance training online?

Yes, with QuizAcademy you can run compliance training online, because German law does not prescribe a specific form. What matters is that the content fits your company and that questions are possible, for example to the compliance team. A conversation in the team complements the training where needed. In other countries, check the local rules. Not legal advice.

How often should compliance training be repeated?

German law does not set a fixed interval; your company decides how often to repeat it. It is common to train new employees when they join and to refresh the content regularly. With QuizAcademy, you repeat the training with a new exam period, and the results per person remain traceable. If policies change, you adapt the content.

Is there software or an app for compliance e-learning?

Yes, QuizAcademy is training software from Germany that runs in the browser and is also available to learners as a learning app. You create the compliance e-learning in the CMS, and your employees open it on a smartphone or computer via email invitation, link, QR code or PIN. The self-study module can also be used offline in the learning app; the exam only needs a connection when it is downloaded and submitted.

Do employees need an account, and where is the data stored?

No, employees do not need an account with QuizAcademy and do not pay anything. In the self-study module, they learn anonymously; in the exam, a username is enough, for example the staff number. The data is stored in the AWS Frankfurt region, and a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR with technical and organisational measures is included. More under data protection (in German).

Is QuizAcademy an alternative to Kahoot, Quizlet and Mentimeter for training?

Yes, QuizAcademy covers live quizzes, flashcards, live surveys and word clouds and adds compliance and safety training with a final exam, on a GDPR-compliant learning platform from Germany. You can find the comparison on the pages Kahoot alternative, Quizlet alternative and Mentimeter alternative.
